A Man's Mission To Clean Kathmandu's Heritage

The culture, history, and heritage of Kathmandu valley can be illustrated by many historical monuments and buildings. These monuments stand tall for its historic and artistic achievements for which the country is world-famous. Many cultural heritage sites like; Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka, Swayambhu Nath and Bouddhanath, temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan. These heritage sites are under the protection and care of UNESCO itself.

But, what about small temples and religious monuments which are unknown to the world? There are thousands of historical sites unknown the outside world, however plays its own role in the history of the country.

Yadav Lal Kayastha is one of the many Heritage Activists who has been working hard to protect the forsaken sites of Kathmandu Valley. Kayastha is the leader of Sampada Bachau Mahaabhiyan. Kayastha started this organization just to save the forgotten cultural heritage of Kathmandu. In addition, just in three years, Kayastha and his small group have now restored over 100 heritage sites in Kathmandu.

Kayastha says that these sites including many others, never fall under the radar of Government. So, instead of waiting for the authorities to act, he himself clean up the site which has been left in a sorry state for decades. Kayastha and his group work unless they completely restore the sites back to normal. Even in harsh weather, no matter how many days it takes

Even though Kayastha has faced many obstacles during his campaign. Including threats and bribes, his will never left his soul. The ex-military man is more spirited at work with the positive response and love which he has been getting from the local community.
