As soon as Gosaikunda is mentioned, it becomes a form of pilgrimage in the minds of many Nepalis, where Hindus go for pilgrimage. However, Gosaikunda is not only a religious place, but also a confluence of natural beauty and cultural significance.
Hindus believe that their god Shiva created Gosaikunda by throwing a trident. This lake is also the source of the Trishuli river. The destination is filled with pilgrims who come to attend the Dashahara Mela in June-July and the Janai Purni in August. Gosaikunda is also considered a sacred place by Buddhists. There are many large and small monasteries on and around the Gosaikunda footpath.
Gosaikunda is a place to visit for religious purposes in Jeth, Asar, and Shrawan, as well as a beautiful footpath to observe the mountains, biodiversity, and Tamang culture.
Ganesh Himal
Manaslu (8,156 m), Ganesh Himal (7,675 m), Langtang Dui (6,581), Langtang Lirung (7,210 m), and many snow peaks in Tibet can be seen from the Gosaikunda footpath.
There are many bamboo forests along the footpath, where red pandas and monkeys can be seen. The beauty of stunning pine and the red gourd is also captivating. Gosaikunda has become the most famous and important lake in the region included in the Ramsar list, but there are many other large and small lakes. On the way, one can also observe the Tamang settlement and the Tamang culture along with the Gumbas.
Gosaikunda Lake
Spring (April-May) is the best time to walk on the Gosaikunda trail. It is less likely to rain at this time. The road is not slippery. The mountains are open and, the red gourds also bloom profusely. The place can also be reached through Sundarijal. However, many hikers pass through Rasuwa and descend into the Helmu Valley. Helmu is another area of natural beauty, cultural splendor, and biodiversity, from where mountain and mountain life can be observed.

How to go?
The bus journey from Kathmandu to Dhunche
Dhunche can be reached in 7-8 hours. After spending the first night in Dhunche, you can head to Gosaikunda the next morning.
Second night Chandanbari
The local name of Chandanbari is Singompa. There are nice hotels here. The cheese that you can buy here is very famous.
On the third day, Gosaikunda is reached
After you reach the destination, you can either decide to pitch a tent there itself or you can head to Laurie Binayak for a challenging ascent up the mountains. From there some pedestrians head towards Syabrut. But, from there, going to Helambu is also very advisable for a diverse experience. On the fourth night, you can decide to stay at Thathepati and for the fifth night, Timbu. From there you can get a vehicle to return to Kathmandu.
Some of the pedestrians pass through Sundarijal and go to Gosaikunda towards Syabur or Dhunche. Some go to Langtang and Kanjin Gumba via Gosaikunda. It all depends on how long you want to spend your time there.
What to bring
Down jackets, thermals, half pants, warm but light clothing, trekking shoes, sunglasses, sticks, water bottles, and fulfilling snacks.
Expenses
It is enough to spend an average of two thousand rupees a day. The amount of money you carry depends on where you go and how long you travel.
