Tourism in Nepal 2025 reached its highest point in October, with 128,443 foreign visitors entering the country. The latest data from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) shows a strong rebound, proving that Nepal’s travel industry continues to thrive even after months of uncertainty.
October Sees the Strongest Tourist Influx
Earlier in the year, Nepal welcomed 121,687 visitors in March and 116,490 in April, but October outperformed every month.
Even with the recent GenZ movement protests, foreign tourist arrivals stayed steady. Many had feared that the violent Bhadra 24 incident, where several hotels were attacked, would damage Nepal’s image abroad. However, the numbers show that Nepal remains a trusted and attractive destination for travelers.
Tourism Bounces Back Quickly
After the protests, hotel booking cancellations caused a brief decline in September, when arrivals dropped to 78,711.
Tourism entrepreneurs and hoteliers quickly reacted by launching campaigns assuring travelers that Nepal is safe and welcoming.
Through online videos and live updates, travelers in Nepal shared their real experiences, helping rebuild global confidence.
The “Nepal Now” campaign became a key effort in promoting Nepal as a secure destination. Tourists currently exploring the country shared photos, stories, and testimonials that encouraged others to visit.
Positive Outlook from Tourism Officials
According to Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, the recent figures reflect a strong comeback for Nepal’s tourism industry.
He explained that while September saw a temporary dip, the October results show clear signs of recovery.
Joshi also shared that the board is regularly engaging with international organizations and embassies to update them about Nepal’s peaceful environment and readiness to host travelers.
Trekking and Adventure Tourism Drive Growth
Autumn remains the busiest travel season in Nepal, attracting both domestic and international adventurers.
Popular trekking routes like the Annapurna Circuit and Langtang are once again filled with hikers.
According to TAAN (Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal), hotel occupancy rates have risen significantly across major routes, reflecting strong demand.
In Pokhara, one of Nepal’s most visited cities, hotel occupancy has climbed to around 50%, said Hotel Association Pokhara President Laxman Subedi.
Trekkers heading to or returning from the Himalayas are spending a few days in the lakeside city, helping boost the local economy.
Climbing Permits and Mountain Royalties Increase
The Department of Tourism reported that 1,450 climbers from 83 countries obtained permits to scale Nepal’s peaks this autumn.
So far, the government has collected Rs. 255.16 million in mountain royalties from 59 climbing permits, showing continued interest in adventure tourism.
Tourist Arrivals in Nepal (January–October 2025)

A bar chart comparing monthly tourist arrivals in Nepal shows a steady rise toward the autumn season, peaking in October 2025 with 128,443 visitors, the highest of the year.
- January to April: Nepal saw gradual growth, climbing from 79,991 in January to over 121,000 in March — the early-year tourism high.
- May to July: Tourist numbers dipped due to the monsoon season, reaching the year’s lowest point in July at 70,193.
- August to October: Arrivals rebounded strongly, with numbers surging to 88,680 in August and then spiking to 128,443 in October as the main trekking and festival season began.
This visual trend highlights how tourism in Nepal 2025 follows its traditional pattern — slowing during the monsoon and booming again during autumn, Nepal’s most popular travel season.
