Osho Tapoban is an International Commune and Forest Retreat Center which was established in 1990 by one of the disciples of Osho, a mystical personality and spiritual guru (who was banned by the United States of America). At present, Swami Anand Arun looks after the Osho Tapoban in Nepal. And it is through the Tapoban that Osho continues to live among us and influence the spiritual community around the world even after three decades since he attained Nirvana in 1990.
Anyone is welcomed in the Osho Tapoban irrespective of their spiritual knowledge. Those who want to explore and find themselves can find this retreat a heavenly place to be. Away from the chaos of the Kathmandu Valley, you can experience the environment which Osho had always visualized of the world. Carefree… where no one will judge you. That’s why one of the meditation session of the day is dedicated specially to help you to bring your inner self out. It’s called Dynamic Meditation.
Dynamic Meditation is the first session in the Osho Tapoban. It’s also famously known as Dancing Meditation. You dance. Sing. Cry. And Laugh. It allows you to cleanse your inner self. Following the Meditation Session, there will be Yoga, Pranayama and Silence Sitting Session. This really tests your patience because we are not used to stay in the same place for longer duration and that too without making any sound.
Nadhbramha Meditation is another one hour session in Tapoban which simply involves the method of humming which creates a healing vibration throughout the body.
Kundalini Meditation is where you find the next level of tranquility and most effective for stress management. It simply moves the energy through the body. There are seven chakras in our body and Kundalini meditation on focused on releasing the energy from the root chakra (spine) going through the seven chakras and finally exiting through the crown chakra above the head. It is believed that Kundalini Meditation improves our emotional and mental wellbeing.
Besides these, there are different set of activities and meditation camp that you can take in Tapoban. But if you are solely looking to go to Tapoban for non-meditative purpose, it’s still a great place for a weekend retreat (of course, unless you can’t survive without booze).
